Nelson Spector, MD, PhD

Professor of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Department of Internal Medicine, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Dr. Spector has been a faculty member at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro since 1987, and Professor since 2005. He was Head of the Department of Internal Medicine from 2002-2006, and a member of the University Council from 2007-2011. He was an active member of the national committee of the Ministry of Education for the evaluation of Brazilian medical post-graduation and research programs from 1996-2011.

Dr. Spector is currently the coordinator of the Brazilian Prospective Hodgkin Lymphoma Registry. He has over 100 published papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has participated as a speaker in every Brazilian Hematology Conference since 1997, and presided the Brazilian Hematology Conference in 2005. He is a member of the Permanent Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Association of Hematology, Hemotherapy and Cellular Therapy. He was a member of the Scientific Committee of the 10th International Symposium on Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Dr. Spector was Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research from 2003-2010, and has been an Associate Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Hematology and Hemotherapy since 2014.
